A polished sample can hide an unstable casting process. Buyers evaluating a platinum manufacturing partner need evidence that quality is controlled before finishing begins and remains repeatable across orders.
Look beneath the surface
Porosity may appear as pinholes during polishing, but its cause often sits upstream in investment preparation, melt control or incomplete feeding. Review unpolished castings and process-validation sections.
Verify dimensional recovery
Critical stone, clasp and assembly dimensions should be recorded after casting and again after finishing. Consistent shrinkage is useful only when it is measured and compensated.
Read the finish as process evidence
Rounded edges, softened details and visible repair zones can signal that polishing is being used to correct problems rather than complete the design intent.
